Vignettes

I sit and gawk concealed among the carefree families and friends.

Here I watch her destroy my memories where she had got into my mind and stole the thoughts I held dear to my heart.

Holding hands with a man I was still deeply in love with, she strolled at midday along the edge of the harbor before a romantic sunset dinner.

Before dark, when the terraces are lit up, they share an intimate moment.

Is everything we see real in reality??

I really didn’t understand it, I tried my best to but I ended up with some few words.

In this article Char Davies is talking about virtual reality and basically how we can feel and see things which aren’t really real in reality. It explores consciousness and perception of the kind of place of something new that we are actually creating it now. It is a dream but where we are conscious so we control what is going on.

Script Outline

Defining the message:

During the oil crisis in 1973, OPEC no longer shipped petroleum to those nations that supported Israel. People stood in big lines waiting for gas. We don’t want that again! If Hugo Chavez the president of Venezuela keeps saying he will cut off all the supplies to the United States, then sooner or later we will end up having the same crisis that we had 34 years ago.

How propaganda is used:

I used demagogue. I showed a part where Hugo curses Bush to bring anger. I also manipulated some of the pictures and made them look a lot worse than they really are, I

My Sound Scape

Is Venezuelas agression towards the United States a threat?

Venezuela has been hostile against the United States of America for a while because of false allegations that the United States army had been in involved in his captivation and an attempted assassination of the President Hugo Chavez. Venezuela’s hate towards the US makes America a possible target especially with the amount of missile and fire arms. They have a strong air force and army. Their aggressive behavior with the United States only puts us in the hot seat as a target. With their ongoing relations with our enemies in Cuba it only makes us more vulnerable for possible attacks. Cuba too has missile sites and is in bad relations with the United States because of our isolation of them. To add to this, Venezuela, our number one oil supplier, has raised the oil prices, making it more difficult for us to negotiate with them and forcing other OPEC countries to raise their prices as well. Today Venezuela is vulnerable, tomorrow who knows who will join the new axis of evil to fight against the United States. It is important for the United States to seek its own interests for the people, and today, as has been stated, it is proven that Venezuela is a major threat to the United States and whether we act today as a super power country or tomorrow after Chavez has attacked, Venezuela will always be a threat as long as the leader is in power.

Can technology invade ones privacy?

From what I understood of the reading is that the dynamic book can be a channel for everyone’s creativity, it lets people all over the world to share and express their feelings and imagination through it. At the beginning I was asking my self, can a person control this dynamic book? I mean what if he or she thought of something and didn’t want to share it with anyone else but themselves, would it automatically send their thoughts to other people? “Imagine having your own self-contained knowledge manipulator in ..” Do we want to imagine that?
But then when I started reading more and more, I realized what this dynamic book can actually look like. Its not just about thoughts and feelings, its about your own memory, everything you have saved in you stored just in one small device. But at the end, its just too DYNAMIC to be true.

Can art bring us back to reality?

9’ Scripts from a Nation at War is a collaborated documentary that depicts the lives of ordinary people in Iraq. It is supposed to portray the conditions of different kinds of individuals and their struggles with the politics of the war. Of these individuals there is a student, detainees, soldiers, prisoners, artists, journalists, Europeans, Americans and about almost every kind of individual one can think of. Though we are supposed to be enlightened by their ideas and impressions of the war in Iraq and understand where we stand as individuals with this war, we are also facing the harsh realities of the war. 9’ Scripts from a Nation at War is giving us a different view of the world and the war. We begin to realize they are more than just individuals but they are also war victims. Whether psychological or physical, the violence they faced and endured makes the documentary more sensitive to the issue of the war in Iraq. This makes us wonder how have we been influenced and how have we changed with the birth of the war? Each individual in one way or anther, whether positive of negative, have had some kind thought of the conditions of the war. Some of these ideas have been so strong that they in fact gave us a different view of the world. This documentary keeps us thinking in how we have changed with the war. This piece of art has brought us back to reality.

"Diary: Audience 1966"

Where do we get our art thoughts from?
Do we get them from books or other or do we actually get them from our pasts? How do we view art? How do we come up with our ideas?
For me, I come up with them from my present life. Every time I hear a weird noise like water drops dropping out of a fridge, I’d think it’s a nice beat for some type of music. Or I see two couple holding hands walking on the harbor at sunset time; I would imagine a beautiful picture with additional changes in my mind. Once I start my work, my brain doesn’t stop adding more and more ideas to my art.

Potomac.

We are always going to different places in different times, but for some precise moments we are all in the same place together.

Once I reach my cherished destination "Montgomery Square", I start wondering where the others are going.

But for me where I’m going is always HOME.

BUT I’ll always remember the special moments we had in this very quiet neighberhood. As I prepare to leave my childhood home, I see other children living my memories.

Like a shared between a mother and her child in their own peaceful world.

Or trying to figure out how to deal with the other children.

Or learning to grow up like his older brother.

Or sharing a hot summer day selling lemonade and hoping to make 5 dollars.

The best thing I remember is even though we all live in the same story, we are always in a different world.

No matter what, we all take different paths in life. As I climb my stairs of life, I wonder where I am meant to go.

But I know this long road of Potomac is mine alone to travel.

Traveling down this road of mine, there is nothing like stopping to enjoy my special moments for one last time.

Situational Tour Project

For my situational tour project, I chose to write about the neighborhood I grew in, Potomac, Maryland. Since I live far away from my country, the only place that feels like home to me is Potomac. I grew up here and saw the neighborhood evolve with me. Every narrow corner of this place reminds me of a special moment I shared with either my family or friends in the past. I chose this place because I’m leaving Potomac very soon and I wanted to share some of my special moments that I had there with the others. It will be very hard leaving the neighborhood behind but its picture will always be trapped in my heart. Potomac will always be my one and only cherished place.

Does multimedia shape the limits of art and life?

Sorry I didn't really understand the part i had to summerize i did my best ..

Vannevar Bush found out the person in charge for the description quality of multimedia by planning an automatic machine. The goal was to create a machine that maintains the mind’s practice of free connection; he distinguished how ideas tend to develop in a no straight, individual way. His mission was to create a tool that could increase this characteristic of human imagination by organizing its media basics to reproduce the dynamics of the mind at play. Douglas Eneglbart also worked on Bush’s hypothesis.

Looking at the real life, any interactivity within the computer just showed a call to inspire the eyewitness to form his or her own experience of reality through electronic mediation. Janet Murray described it as “agency” which she explained “the satisfying power to take meaningful action and see the results of our decision and choices.” So this type of agency has been changed in our very narrow environment as a system for allowing the eyewitness to connect with the artist as an inspired co-worker.

Art has been known to be the mirror of life, but with all this addition of thinking and concepts of relationships and teamwork, any computer based multimedia may add to be more than a mirror of life. Multimedia already has a space between art and the real life.

Are all art boys considered geeks?

The writer is basically talking about his past, he is remembering how he used to be a categorized as a geek, and also others he worked with were categorized like him he tells us how they used to dine out on the company’s credit. He doesn’t know how to categorize himself, people think he is a geek and ask him questions that he doesn’t understand, the world is evolving so quickly and it’s so hard for him to keep up. He doesn’t want to explain or understand anymore, he feels everyone’s lives are merging into each other such as the geeks and art boys but they are still different.

Nancy Davenport

I think it is amazing what one person can do with all this new digital work. I personally loved Davenport’s pictures; I enjoyed looking at her pictures in class and I looked at the rest as soon as I got home. Nancy’s work shows us how fictionist a picture can seem or even manipulated, like the picture in Accident Prone detailed by “Leo Bloom” it seems very manipulated to me, I can think of two things in it, either the rocks can be falling way far behind the man waving on the mountain, but to us it seems that they are falling right down on his head, or there were no rocks in the picture she captured by her camera and added the rocks on her computer. The other picture in Accident Prone detailed by "Michael Scott Keen" for example also looks very fabricated to me, the giant ship would probably have larger waves at the front, and the small boat would be gone by the time the ship gets that close to it. Nancy constructed her work on her own way and simulated it with her own reality.

Multimedia Aspiration

I'm starting this Multimedia class without any experience in the field hoping to finish it knowing and understanding all the information i should know.
